Ven Pongal Recipe : 


Ingredients:
* 1 cup Raw rice
* 1/4 cup pasi paruppu or moong dal
* 4 cups water
* Salt for taste
* 1 table spoon chopped Ginger
* 1 pinch Asafoetida
* 1/4 spoon kadali paruppu/channa dal
* Curry leaves 1 sprig
* Ghee 2 table spoon
* Pepper 2 table spoon
* green chili 1
* jeera 2 table spoon
* Cashews 6 to 8 no.

METHOD OF COOKING : 

STEP 1 : Wash the rice and soak that before 1 hour with measured water of 4 cups. For ex; ( 1 cup rice = 4 cups of water )

STEP 2 : To add a extra flavor roast the moong dal before mix with rice.

STEP 3 : First heat a small pan with tow table spoon of ghee and fry the chopped ginger and roast jeera, chana dal, cumin seed , green chili, cashews, curry leaves and pepper.

STEP 4 : After that take a small pressure cooker add rice and moong dal and roasted ingredients and add salt for taste.

STEP 5 : After finish this let this cook for 4 to five whistle sounds.

STEP 6 : Wait until pressure gets released by itself open the cooker and mash the contents well , while the rice should be mushy to get awesome taste to eat.

STEP 7 : We can serve this hot pongal with coconut chutney or sambar will be the great combination to eat.
